Description

Hygoon is an independent game collaborative in Houston, Texas. The group was founded on the principle of developing visually dazzling and engaging content with the ultimate goal of moving forward the medium of interactive story telling.

History

Early history

Hygoon's core members became friends growing up in the same hometown of Pearland, TX. During this time the gang touched on the concept of story telling through visual media and games. While Shaun Williams and Joey Paffel were taking several computer science courses they together dreamed up the idea for a game called "HYGOON".

Johnny Falcone attended the Savannah College of Art and Design where Joey frequently went to visit and sleep on dorm couches. It was there that Joey and Johnny were inspired by the game A Boy and His Blob for Nintendo Wii to make a hand drawn game of their own with a small development team of artists from SCAD with the programming by Shaun.

Several game concepts were put together for different videogame genres and platforms from desktop real-time-strategy to console 2.5D side-scroller. Eventually a mobile game concept Pterodactyl Attack was decided on for development by the company the group would only call "hygoon".

Pterodactyl Attack

Pterodactyl Attack is a fast paced fiery pterodactyl action packed game for the mobile market! It is the first game produced by the indie game company Hygoon.

The game was a collaborative effort with the goal of empowering artists to bring to the table anything they wanted to build the game from the ground up. The project gave artists the opportunity to showcase something that represented work to be proud of. The carte blanche development style extended to the programming side as well with the coding done from the ground up. This lended itself to open transparency of the process with developer blogs and in-depth technical articles in an open devependium . Eventually the game's code will be released into open source to welcome the community further.
